Hot off the record-setting resurrection of Evil Dead Rise, writer-director Lee Cronin turns to one of the most iconic horror stories of all time with an audacious and twisted retelling: Lee Cronin's The Mummy.

In this new horror movie, a young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace.

Eight years later, the family is shocked when their little girl is returned to them and what should be a joyful reunion turns out to be a nightmare.

The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcón. The film is written and directed by Cronin, and produced by James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville. The executive producers are Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher and Lee Cronin.

Cronin is supported behind the camera by a team of sterling film artisans, including director of photography Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, costume designer Joanna Eatwell, music by Stephen McKeon and casting by Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo.

In the trailer, a couple stands in what appears to be a patch of deserted land while receiving news of their lost daughter. The woman stumbles to the ground at the same time we hear a voice say their daughter has been found.

As they prepare to finally see their long lost daughter, a doctor warns them to brace themselves for what they would see: a young girl who looks anything but normal.

What lay before them was more like a creature than a human: with long, unkempt toenails on feet with flaky skin, parched lips and face whose skin that resembles that of a corpse, fungus-infected fingernails. The daughter that is front of them looks far from a child; it looks like a mummified corpse.

They discover that the young girl was found inside a sarcophagus, one that's used to bury mummies for thousands of years. But their daughter's not the only one. Speaking with authorities, they learn that there are dozens of others out there.

Back at home, they try to make things normal, but nothing's normal with their daughter.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy will hit cinemas April 15, 2026.
