Universal Pictures Philippines has just released the official trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming movie Forgotten Island featuring Liza Soberano and other Pinoy celebrities.
The Forgotten Island trailer shows two young girls, Jo and Raissa, meeting for the first time and eventually becoming best friends into their teenage years. Voiced by H.E.R. and Soberano respectively, the two friends get closer as they years pass by. When it’s time for Raissa to go to the United States for school, the two discover a portal that leads to a mysterious island full of mythical creatures like the Ibong Adarna, manananggal, and kapre among others.
The two soon learn that the longer they stay in the island, the more memories of each other they lose so they fight to find their way back home.
Forgotten Island trailer boasts of colorful sets and bring in the nostalgia especially for Filipino audiences as it showcases various elements that are simply Pinoy—from elementary school uniforms to how Pinoy suburbs look to the iconic jeepney. It’s made more appealing by the haunting and wistful soundtrack, Simple Minds’ Don’t You Forget About Me, which is probably the theme for most friendships in the 90s.
