Netflix makes history with “Squid Game” Emmy nod

Netflix’s groundbreaking series, Squid Game, is making Emmys history after becoming the first non-English-language drama to be nominated for outstanding drama series.

Hwang Dong-hyuk’s hit Korean drama, which is renewed for a second season, also scored 14 nominations, including acting nominations for Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon and Oh Young-soo.

Aside from Squid Game, two other Netflix shows received Emmy nominations for outstanding drama series: Stranger Things and Ozark. Both received a total of 13 nods.

Inventing Anna is nominated for outstanding limited or anthology series. Its lead actress, Julia Garner, scored two noms: outstanding actress for Inventing Anna and supporting actress for Ozark.
