Who is the baddest Superman villain?
Superman fans might go with either Doomsday or Steppenwolf: Doomsday killed Superman in Batman V Superman, so that technically makes him the most powerful Superman foe; however, it took Superman and the rest of the Justice League to take down Steppenwolf.
“DC League of Super-Pets” just might have the answer.
In this new animated movie from Warner Bros. Pictures, Superman (and the rest of the Justice League) met their match when a new super villain comes to town. The Man of Steel was no match and he soon found himself held prisoner along with the rest of the Earth’s mighty defenders.
Meet Lulu, probably the strongest Superman villainess
After an orange kryptonite gave shelter pets superpowers, a guinea pig named Lulu (voiced by Kate McKinnon) stepped up to the plate and took on Superman.
It didn’t take much for the pint-sized shelter pet to decommission Superman and the rest of the Justice League. She had telekinesis, flight, metal-bending powers, and blind fanaticism–a deadly combination. With literally a flick of finger, she was able to bring down Earth’s mighty defenders.
She didn’t have to wrestle against anyone; didn’t even break a sweat.
General Zod, Doomsday, and Steppenwolf all had to take a beating from Superman. Lulu didn’t. Now that’s some powerful villain.
Krypto, the super dog, is Superman’s only hope
Equally powerful is Superman’s Kryptonian best friend: Krypto.
And it’s up to him to save the Man of Steel and put an end to Lulu’s insanity. But there’s one problem: he can’t do it alone. This is where the rest of DC’s League of Super-Pets come in.
Ace, the hound (voiced by Kevin Hart) leads the pack. He is joined by PB, the potbellied pig (voiced by Vanessa Bayer), Merton, the turtle (voiced by Natasha Lyonne), and Chip, the squirrel (voiced by Diego Luna). These super pets need to learn how to harness their powers quickly, with help from Krypto.
Unconditional love and learning how to ask for help
The main hurdle for Krypto is his inability to get along with other animals, and that is the journey he needs to go through with his new-found friends. With the help of Ace, he will soon learn the importance of learning to rely on others.
DC League of Super-Pets is a great addition to the more serious story arcs in the DCEU. This gives us a new perspective to the superheroes we’ve loved watching over the last few years. Yes, it’s mainly for kids, but the inclusion of the Justice League makes it suitable for older audiences, as well.
It’s entertaining overall. It had action and a lot of comedy. The references, quips, and banters between the characters are enjoyable. More importantly, the movie goes beyond entertainment value. It has serious themes that offer good life lessons for the kids watching.
DC League of Super-Pets might have introduced us to the strongest Superman villain, but it also brought to our consciousness the best ally for the Man of Steel.
DC League of Super-Pets is now showing in Philippine cinemas. Don’t forget to use #DCSuperPets when posting about your movie reactions.
