The QCinema 2026 theme
Genre’teurs
QCinema 2026 is built around “genre’teurs,” a blend of “genre” and “auteur”: filmmakers who take crime films, thrillers, romances and horror and make them unmistakably their own. The lineup includes the Palme d’Or winner Fjord, two Lav Diaz films, the world premiere of Ella Arcangel on opening night, and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s live-action Look Back to close. Catching up? “Genre gives filmmakers a framework, while the auteur brings a personal voice to that framework.”Ed Lejano, QCinema artistic director

QCinema 2026 cinemas & FAQ
When and where is QCinema 2026?
The 14th QCinema International Film Festival runs November 13 to 22, 2026. Public screenings are at Gateway Cineplex 18 (Nov 14–22), Robinsons Movieworld Galleria and Ayala Malls Cinemas TriNoma (Nov 16–18), and Fisher Mall Cinemas and SM City Fairview (Nov 19–21).
How much are QCinema 2026 tickets?
₱200 per screening. General booking opens at a later date that QCinema hasn’t announced yet. Badge holders book first, from November 9 at 12:00 PM to November 10 at 11:59 PM, so some screenings may have fewer seats left by then.
Can I still get a QCinephile Festival Badge?
No. The 2026 badge sold out on October 29, the day registration opened. It cost ₱2,000 for 10 screening credits (one credit reserves one seat for one film), a personalized badge and a merch set: tote bag, shirt, cap, leather pouch, coaster and lanyard. Everyone else can buy regular tickets at ₱200 per screening once general booking opens.
I have a badge. How does booking work?
Login details for the booking platform arrive on or before November 7. Badge holders get priority booking from November 9, 12:00 PM to November 10, 11:59 PM. Each booking uses one credit and one seat, and you can reserve one seat per screening. Reservations close at 6:00 PM the day before each screening. On screening day, show your e-ticket and badge at the QCinema Desk to get your physical cinema ticket.
Where do I pick up the badge?
Badge holders pick up at the QCinema Desk in the lobby of the cinema they chose: Gateway Cineplex 18, Ayala Malls Cinemas TriNoma, Robinsons Movieworld Galleria, Fisher Mall or SM City Fairview. Bring a student or government-issued ID and the Claim QR code in the TICKETS section of your booking account.
What are the badge rules?
One badge per person, of any badge type, and buyers must be of legal age. Badges are personal and non-transferable. Credits work for all films except blocked screenings, special presentations and free screenings, and gala seats are limited. Bookings are final and can’t be changed or canceled. If a screening is canceled, the credit goes back to your account. Unused credits aren’t refunded.
What does “Genre’teurs” mean?
It’s this year’s curatorial theme, a blend of “genre” and “auteur.” The festival highlights filmmakers who work in familiar genres like crime, horror and romance but bring a distinctly personal voice to them.
What are the QCinema 2026 opening and closing films?
QCinema 2026 opens with the world premiere of Ella Arcangel: Ballad of Tooth and Claw, Mervin Malonzo’s animated urban fantasy voiced by Bianca Umali. It closes with Hirokazu Kore-eda’s live-action Look Back.
What is Focus On: Pete Lacaba?
A tribute within Rediscovery to writer and screenwriter Jose “Pete” Lacaba, with restored screenings of two films he wrote: Lino Brocka’s Jaguar and Mike de Leon’s Sister Stella L.
When is the QCinema 2026 screening schedule out?
QCinema hasn’t released it yet. We’ll add the full schedule to this page, day by day and cinema by cinema, as soon as it’s published. Screening times and cinema assignments can still change during the festival.
